12 PM

Everyday, from 12:00 pm to 12:01 pm the acoustic situation is recorded with a smartphone. For playback, the material is arranged in a constant audio stream of ca. 2000 recordings. With a camera controlled gesture interface visitors can adjust the playback-speed from slowed down up to 50 times of the original speed and are able to scroll through six years of aural diary.

NETWORK - FEEDBACK - NETWORK

A microphone is hanging in front of a speaker. The microphone's position is determined by a motor which is controlled by data received from the Digital Art Netzwerk. Depending on the microphone's position, pitch, and amplitude of the resulting feedback are changing. The signal is analyzed for pitch and amplitude and this data is sent to the DAN.

DigitalArtNetzwerk (DAN)

The DigitalArtNetzwerk (DAN) evolved through digitally linking diverse artistic projects created by students in different courses held by Stefano D‘Alessio, Thomas Felder, Klaus Filip, Ulla Rauter, and Nicolaj Kirisits.

The works themselves serve as nodes in this network. The artistic concepts and their development are based on an iterative process, which aims to optimize the relationships of the nodes with the network and balance the flow of data. The works receive, transform, and convey data. They are conceived as a requirement for the flows that manifest between the nodes in an abstract mathematical pattern, which wouldn’t be tangible without the transformation process taking place within the nodes.

In the DAN project, the aforementioned auto-referential process of data-production can be accessed online. The individual projects comprising the DigitalArtNetzwerk are presented via streaming formats.

Push & Pull

The installation is located in a public space, attached to a tree. On one side branch, a spring made of twisted iron wire is fastened, hanging from a pulley. At the end of the pulley system, a motorized arm pulls on a rope at irregular intervals. The arm is mounted in the middle, and on another side branch of the tree a loudspeaker is attached.

Attacks

The continuous motion of a turntable is opposed to the oscillation of a pendulum. A game of synchronization and chaos manifests itself as sonic material. Attacks was presented during a workshop held by Klaus Filip and Nicolai Kirisits at Symposion Lindabrunn in June 2018.

Rotary Force

A beamer projects a 50-minute video-loop through a glass mounted to a motor rotating with 1,5 rounds per minute. The video shows a montage of loops, each consisting of footage of photographs projected through a glass positioned on a rotating turntable. As part of the group-exhibition "without form, without, subject, without face" ROTARY FORCE was presented at kaeshmaesh in January/February 2019.
